MADELAINE HOLT
Principal
Madelaine has over a decade of experience working exclusively in competition and consumer law at world-class regulators. As a former Director of the Enforcement, Product Safety and Infrastructure Divisions at the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and as the former head of the Tasmanian ACCC office, Madelaine brings a wealth of expertise she can share with her fellow practitioners, government and business.
Madelaine has led complex and high-profile investigations and litigation into individuals and businesses, including ASX-listed companies. She has a deep understanding of regulatory craft and offers strategic and innovative advice to local, state and federal governments regarding regulatory capability uplift. This includes the full suite of processes and practices to achieve consistent, effective and efficient regulatory practices and enforcement outcomes.
Madelaine’s competition law experience encompasses cartel and anti-competitive conduct, misuse of market power, exclusive dealing and resale price maintenance. She also holds a deep understanding of the Australian Consumer Law, having investigated issues regarding misleading, deceptive and unconscionable conduct, unfair contract terms, consumer guarantees, country of origin labelling, and franchising and other industry codes.
Madelaine is committed to education of the next generation of lawyers, having lectured at the University of Tasmania and educated investigators in best-practice investigation strategy and technique.
